Description
Start the hike from the parking lot at Myrdalsvatnet. Follow the gravel road along the water until you reach a crossroads.
Here you turn left, signposted "Den ene veien". Follow the gravel road further inland until you pass a large gapahuk on the left. Right Next to the gapahuk there is a path into the forest - follow this until you come up onto a forest road.
Follow the forest road north to the bench with the text “Here you can rest your tired feet.” From here, the path continues through marshy terrain and north past Langavatnet.
At the end of Langavatnet (lake number two) the ascent towards Brattlandsfjellet begins. Cross the stream and follow the path/animal tracks on the left side of the river that flows down the mountainside. At first there is a steep climb through the forest, before the terrain flattens out at the large bog in Øvre Skavdalen. Follow the path over the bog, and shortly after a new ascent begins.
After a short Distance up the ridge, the vegetation becomes lower, and you get a view to the south. From here, the path is marked with small cairns. Follow the path further up the plateau, and about 100 meters north you will find the cairn on Brattlandsfjellet.
The top of Brattlandsfjellet consists of a small cairn and a white cast mark. Just below the peak, the terrain drops steeply down towards Grimevatnet.
Return
You can return the same way you came up. For a nicer round trip, it is recommended to follow the path in a southeasterly direction up Skavdalsfjellet. Here you can either take the path to the left over Flåfjellet, or – as we did – go right and down via Stordalsfjellet.
Return via Skavdalsfjellet is highly recommended.
Have a good trip!
