Description

Solbakkefjellet (458 m. above sea level) from Frotveit. A mountain located between Bontveitdalen and Hausdalen.

From the parking lot, follow the light trail road around the bend and then north towards Bontveit. Go straight ahead where the light trail ends/bends and follow the tractor road on the right side of the infield. Just before the tractor road turns right towards Frotveitvatnet, there is a path up the slope to the right. Here there is a sign marked 'Solbakkefjellet'.

Follow the path through the forest. It is steep here so take off your skis. There may also be icy sections so be careful. When you come through the forest the terrain becomes more open and the climb becomes smoother. Put on your skis and follow the ridge towards the southeast and then south. There are yellow marks hanging in the trees that show the way. You follow mostly the same path as the hiking route.

Når man kommer opp på ryggen blir terrenget åpent og man får fjellfølelse.  Følg ryggen videre med treskilt som viser veien. Terrenget går opp og ned før en siste stigning og deretter flatt de siste hundre meterne frem til toppvarden.

At the top (458 m. above sea level) there is a cairn with a mailbox and a book. You get a great view of Livarden, Hausdalshorga and Gullfjellet to the north. Møsnuken and Fanafjellet to the south. In the background you can see Folgefonna to the east and the sea to the west.

This is not a mountain that is known for skiing, but I would definitely recommend it. A bit steep and demanding at the start, but otherwise the terrain is perfect for skiing.

Return the same way!

Have a good trip!
