Access

From Bergen, drive to Nesttun and follow Osveien towards Os. When you reach Kaland, turn left into Bontveit. Follow the road all the way to Frotveit light trail (approx. 6 km.).

Parking

Parking at the ski resort. Parking costs NOK 50 per day. Payment with Vipps.

Description

From the parking lot, follow the light trail road around the bend and then north towards Bontveit.

Go straight ahead where the light trail ends/turns and follow the tractor road on the right side of the infield. Just before the tractor road turns right towards Frotveitvannet, there is a path up the slope to the right. There should be an old sign here marked 'Solbakkafjellet'. (The one I'm holding in picture no. 1).

Follow the path through the forest. There can be slippery sections here so be careful. When you come through the forest the terrain becomes more open. Follow the marked path south (Logs and yellow wooden pegs in the trees.). Now just follow the ridge south to the summit cairn.
As you get higher up, the terrain becomes open and the views become great.

At the top (458 m. above sea level) there is a cairn with a mailbox and a book. You get a great view of Livarden, Hausdalshorga and Gullfjellet to the north. Møsnuken and Fanafjellet to the south. In the background you can see Folgefonna to the east and the sea to the west.

Recommend going back the same way.

There are many marshy areas so wear shoes that go above the ankle. Solbakkefjellet can also be climbed from Kaland, Hausdalen and Gimmeland.

Have a good trip!
