Description
Fuglafjellet is the highest mountain peak in Kvam district. The ski trip from Bergsdalen to the top is long, so for a shorter and more manageable day trip it is recommended to start from the DNT hut Vending.
From Vending, strap on your skis, cross Vendingstjørn and head northeast towards the foot of Fuglafjellet. You go around the mountain on the north side and follow the same route as the summer path for a while. When the summer path starts to climb up the mountainside, you instead continue south and into Fugladalen.
Follow Fugladalen in a southwesterly direction until you reach Fugladalstølen. From here you continue upwards via Fossavatnet and Øvre Fugladalsvatnet. You round a skerk and enter a large valley that leads all the way up to the summit plateau. The summit of Fuglafjellet itself is relatively small and pointed, but offers fantastic views in clear weather.
The return trip goes back down the same way. When you are back in Fugladalen, you can either return to Vending, or follow the regular ski trail down towards Hamlagrøvatnet.
