On overgrown paths to Rivenesflorane (553 m above sea level) on Osterøy

This is a trip that offers great fjord views!

The tour starts at the big bend at Vik on Osterøy. There is a shortage of parking here, so I recommend parking in the large space along the road, about 500 meters before the bend (when you come driving from the bridge).

From the big bend, follow the tractor road up Djupedalen. It curves upwards. At the end of the tractor road, go straight ahead and DO NOT follow the road to the left. Shortly after, the tractor road ends, and you cross a bridge where the road becomes a path. Follow the path through the gate into the spruce forest. Here the path winds steeply up the mountainside.

Further up the slope you will come to a crossroads. Here there is a sign attached to a tree on the left side marked 'Rivenesfloarne'. This is where you should go.

Follow the path and cross two streams. The path goes up the mountainside through the pasture. The path is very bad and overgrown. In some places it is clear, but it changes quickly, so you have to pay close attention to find your way. There are no markings either. Later the path goes through dense forest. As you get further up the mountainside and the vegetation becomes thinner, it is easier to find your way. Above the tree line the path gets much better, and it leads you south. You can see the old ruins of Rivenesflorane from a good Distance . Follow the path to the ruins.

Return the same way.
