Description
The hike starts at the parking lot in Herfindalen. Follow the DNT trail that goes towards Høgabu.
At the beginning, the path runs along the river. After a few hundred meters, it goes up into Halvgjedalen and up the mountainside. The path is of good quality and in the most rugged places there are steps. As you approach Budalen, the terrain flattens out and becomes an open plateau landscape. Follow the path over the marshes and then over the bridge. The path continues past a cabin on the right through Budalen. Follow the path past Buhellervatnet and then up a steep section past another cabin. Up towards Vardane, it flattens out and becomes mountainous terrain. Follow the DNT path to Vardatjørnane.
From here there is no longer a path to the top and you have to find your own way. Get off the path on the left and follow the direction north. The terrain is open and slightly hilly. Follow the direction north for about 1 km until you see Knuskedalsfjellet in front of you. The cairn is located all the way north at the top. Walk around the mountain on the right side towards the north and you will see the cairn from a good Distance .
The cairn is large, and it leans to the side so it looks like it is about to topple over. At the top there is a view into Bergsdalen. You can also see Folgefonna and Sørfjorden towards Osterøy.
Return the same way or follow the mountain ridge back to the southwest.
Have a good trip!
