Description
There are good hiking opportunities on Fanafjellet. Most are probably best known on the south side (the one with the saddles and the Ramberget viewpoint), but there are also nice hiking opportunities on the opposite side of the road.
Go to the end of the parking lot (north-east) where there is a path into the forest. Like all other places on Fanafjellet it is very wet here so wear good shoes. Follow the path in a north-east direction into the forest. After a few hundred meters you will come to an open logging field and you can see a gravel road further down. Follow the path further and it will lead you down to the gravel road. Go left on the gravel road in a north direction for about 300 meters. Here you will see a path that goes to the right into the forest towards the power poles. The path is bad at first but gets better over time. Follow the path under the power poles into the forest. The terrain is easy and it goes up and down a bit. Follow the ridge in a north-east direction on the right side of Hamresåta (It is possible to take a detour up here to a bench, but I have not done that on this trip). After about 1 km the path turns to the south-east and you have to cross some bogs. Wooden bridges have been made over the worst parts.
Cross the bridges and continue the last ascent to Tereleitet. The path is good and you round up to the back of the viewpoint. At the top is an old Bergensvarde, sign and mailbox. I might be a bit harsh in calling it a viewpoint, but if you look northeast behind the cairn, there is a clearing where you get a view. By the cairn there are also some old wooden planks that serve as benches.
Although the viewpoint is not the best, this is a nice hike that suits most people.
Recommend returning the same way. Have a nice trip!
