Description
Easily accessible peak that offers nice views of the Grimstadfjord and Haakonsvern.
Cross the parking lot to the west to the asphalt road. Cross the field on the right by the lamppost towards the small mini dam at Knapentjørna. Follow the path along the water for about 50 meters. It then turns left up towards Knapenfjellet. The path is good and it follows crisscrossingly under the high-voltage power line to the top.
At the top are two buildings. Note the old ruined house. Feel free to take a walk inside and have a look, but be careful not to go down on the 2nd floor. The best viewpoint is on the neighboring peak Eltona about 200 meters to the north. Just follow the path down into the dump, over the marsh and then to the top. It is not a cairn, more like a mailbox here, but a nice view of the Grimstadfjord and Haakonsvern.
