Description
The Leave Trail can be found in Fjellveien about 200 meters north of where Stoltzekleiven starts.
The path, which was built in the 1890s, is a shortcut between Sandviksbatteriet and Sandviksveien. It has been newly renovated and consists of 220 steps, built by Sherpas from Nepal.
The first part of the hike is among large trees in beautiful surroundings before it gets a little steeper as you approach the stairs to the top. The stairs are also steep at times, and can be a little slippery on days with sub-zero temperatures or lots of rain.
The hike is not as demanding as Stoltzekleiven, it is less well-known and a little less used. Here you will not have to wait in line.
The top is called Sandviksbatteriet Friluftsromåde. Here is a large, child-friendly area that is perfect for a lunch break or barbecue in the summer among old war relics, and with a fantastic view of Bergen. There is also a deployed boss team.
The road ahead offers various options. For example, you can follow the signs to Sandvikspilen and Stoltzekleiven, with a descent through Skredderdalen back to Fjellveien. Skredderdalen is also a less used path through beautiful nature. This is a fantastic round trip that is suitable for everyone.
