The hotel is located at the top of the famous Flåm Railway (840 m above sea level) in Myrdal, high above the Aurlandsfjord, and can only be reached by train.

The Flåm Railway stops at Vatnahalsen station, just 50 metres from the hotel. From Flåm, 20 km further down the valley, there are fjord cruises to the Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The popular Rallarvegen cycle route runs through Vatnahalsen. This spectacular cycle route crosses the Hardangervidda plateau and ends at the Aurlandsfjord.
In winter, the hotel is a popular starting point for ski trips, both mountain skiing and ski touring. They have many great package deals that include accommodation and ski trips with a guide. In summer, there is Rallarvegen and many great mountain hikes you can go on in the area!
