Flåm Railway

The Flåm Railway is a train ride that runs all year round. It starts in Flåm and goes up the Flåm Valley to Myrdal Station (867 m above sea level). The train journey takes approx. 60 min one way.

Tourists usually take the train round trip. On the train you will meet people from all corners of the world. Even Norwegians who are used to both fjords and mountains are impressed by this train ride. The train cars have an old-fashioned style and interior. The atmosphere among the passengers is good and you can feel them moving from the left to the right side and back again to take pictures.

About halfway through the train ride, the train stops at Kjosfossen. Here, there is a 5-minute stop to experience the waterfall. The train then continues to Vatnahalsen Hotel. This is often visited by many mountain and hiking enthusiasts. Especially in the winter season, the hotel is a popular meeting place for mountain hiking enthusiasts.

The last stop on the trip is Myrdal station. Here you can take the train on to Bergen or return by train to Flåm.
