A varied ski day with both groomed slopes and off-piste opportunities.

Start the weekend with lift-based skiing at Sogndal Ski Center Hodlekve, just minutes from the accommodation. The facility has 5 ski lifts and 14 slopes, from child-friendly areas to more challenging trails that provide good progression. In Dalalåven, you can warm up in the café with food, hot drinks, and freshly baked waffles. Here is also the ski rental operated by Intersport Sogndal, with equipment for both beginners and advanced skiers. If you want instruction, private ski school can be booked any day the facility is open (book at least 3 days in advance).

Day 2: Ski trip in groomed tracks to Høgehaug (980 m above sea level)

An easily accessible ski destination with great views.

Start the trip at Sogndal Ski Center Hodlekve. Cross between the lift and the main building and follow the ski track towards southwest – the track is groomed all the way to Høgehaug. The first part goes a lot uphill through forest terrain before it flattens out higher up, with gentle uphill sections towards the end. The summit (about 5 km one way / 500 m elevation) offers great views of the fjord and mountains. Return the same way, or extend with the loop around Fjærlandssetvatnet (about 17 km) – bring food and warm clothes.

Distance: approx. 9 km round trip, time: approx. 3–4 hours, Grade: Moderate

Day 3: Summit trip to Blåfjellet (1397 m) from Hodlekve

The weekend's highlight with magnificent views and a long descent.

The Sunday is perfect for the most alpine trip in Hodlekve: a summit trip to Blåfjellet on skis or randonee. You can start from the ski center and walk up to Rindabotn (about 950 m), or take the lift and save energy. Then you follow the ridge northwest towards Kambafjellet, with steeper sections where it often pays off to zigzag. After a small dip, you go up the ridge towards Blåfjellet, before the terrain flattens out around 1300 m and leads you the last meters to the cairn. At the top, a great view awaits towards inner Sogn and Hurrungane in the distance. Return the sameway, or down towards Stilledalen and into the track towards Høgehaug.

Distance: approx. 10 km, time: approx. 5–6 hours, Grade: Challenging
