Topp 10 skiturer i Bergen og omegn

The municipalities of Bergen and surrounding areas offer good opportunities for ski trips. The only requirement is that there is snow. Something that is often in short supply in this part of the country.

We have put together a list of 10 ski trips that we recommend. Whether you are experienced or a beginner on skis, you will find something that suits you.

1. Ski trip over Vidden - Moderate

Skitur over Vidden i Bergen

Vidden is perhaps Bergen's most popular mountain trip – and in winter it becomes extra magical.

Take the Ulriksbanen up and start the ski trip from the top, or walk up via Montana and the stairs 'Oppstemten'. If you choose the stairs when there is snow, you should use good crampons – many sled down, and it can be very slippery.

The actual ski trip over Vidden is best suited with mountain skis with steel edges, especially if the surface is hard.

A classic – regardless of the season. Have a good trip!

2. Ski trip to Gullfjelltoppen (987 m) via Vossavardane - Challenging

Skitur Gullfjelltoppen (987 moh)

Start the trip at the parking lot by Osavatn and follow the road towards the Svartevatnet dam. Go around Svartavannrinden to the left. In winter, there are ski tracks on the road. Continue north around the hill until you reach the bridge. Walk along the path by Svartavatnet, be aware of ice. Climb up Svartavasslia, keep left in the slope by Tjørnadalen to avoid avalanche danger. Be careful in the steep section up towards Gullfjellshalsen. Use common sense. From Gullfjellshalsen, follow the line of cairns to the top. For descent, the route via the corkscrew is recommended. The rescue cabin.

3. Kvamskogen Panorama Ski Trip - Medium

Skitur på Kvamskogen

Many go skiing from Furedalen to Mødal and Såta on Kvamskogen, but we strongly recommend this round trip, which we believe is the most beautiful ski trip in all of Kvamskogen. The view over the forest and the nearby mountains is fantastic!

4. Mountain hike to Skjelinganosi (1311 m above sea level) - Vikafjellet - Challenging

A popular mountain peak on the border between Voss and Vik, with an impressive cairn at the top and great views. This trip is usually an Easter tradition, but due to prolonged snow cover, we skied to the top at the beginning of June. Mountain skis with steel edges are recommended. From the top, you can enjoy fantastic views over the Sognefjord and Stølsheimen.

5. Ski trip to Livarden (683 m above sea level) from Bontveit - Medium

Livarden

Most usually start from Totland, but for a more remote experience, you can begin from Bontveit. Be prepared for a crowded area near Rambjørvatnet, where ski tracks from Totland end.

Start from the parking lot at Bontveit, follow the road and put on your skis at the gate at the top of the hill. Follow the road until you reach the sign 'Livarden', then go until the road ends. Go down to the left and cross the marsh. At the end of the marsh, follow the cairns towards the top. There are steep sections, so skins are recommended.

6. Ski trip to Tveitakvitingen (1299 m above sea level) from Furedalen on Kvamskogen- Challenging

Tveitakvitingen

This is the most popular mountain hike from Kvamskogen, and it is equally popular in winter as in summer. In winter, you can enjoy the trip either on mountain skis or with randonee equipment. The skiing conditions here often vary significantly. For example, in April, you can experience everything from slush at the bottom of the slope, to blown and loose snow past Stueveggen, and finally hard ice and crust at the top.

The descent with randonee equipment is relatively easy, while it can be somewhat more challenging on mountain skis.

7. Ski trip to Kiellandbu (916 m above sea level) from Bergsdalen - Challenging

Kiellandbu

Start at the power station and head south along Hodnabergsvegen. Cross the bridge and put on your skis. From the road, go up to the right through the forest towards the southwest. It is steep at first, but when you reach a flat area, follow the ridge southward parallel to Kvålsdalen. Be aware that the ascent to Sveindalsnuten may feel narrow and exposed to some. It is wider than it seems, but be careful with snow cornices along the edges.

At the top of Sveindalsnuten, you can see down to Kiellandbu. Ski down crosswise. The last part to the cabin is mostly flat with a little up and down. Return the same way.

8. Ski trip from Gullbrå to Kvitanosi (1433 m.a.s.l.) - Extra challenging

Start at the construction road, walk up the slope near the bridge. Follow the ridge called Gråbergsrusten up to Kjerringanosi. On the plateau, the terrain flattens out. Cross the Kjerrinanosi plateau to the left and walk south on the left side of the mountain down into the valley towards Dyratoni before climbing up to Kyrafjellet. Be careful with snowdrifts when walking up the ridge to Kyrafjellet. Walk south on the west side before rounding back up to Kyrafjellet. At the top of Kyrafjellet, follow the ridge south. The terrain is flat, and there is little risk of avalanches. After a while, you will seethe top of Kvitanosi. To reach the cairn, go around on the south side.

9. Ski trip from Bergsdalen to Gullhorgabu (840 m) - Medium

Gullhorgabu

Start from Småbrekke parking lot, cross the bridge, and put on your skis if there is snow. Follow the road along Småbrekkevatnet until you reach a cabin and a lavvu marked 'Gullhorgabu.' Continue uphill along the river to Moavatnet. If the ice is uncertain, follow the path along the water to Moastølen. Cross the bridge and follow the marked trail into Moadalane, with a steady ascent into the mountains.

Continue to follow the marked trail into the valley, cross some lakes, and keep to the right before you reach Storlitjørni lake. If the ice is uncertain, it is recommended to keep to the right. The summer trail goes to the left but is steep and prone to avalanches. Once you have crossed the lake, the slope goes past a large rock until the terrain levels out. Follow the ridge southwest with a gentle ascent, and then down to the cabin.

10. Ski trip to Bruviknipa (822 m) from Njåstad - Challenging

Bruviknipa

This is the new popular ski trip on Osterøy! Start at the parking lot, put on your skis, and follow Njåstadvegen into Langedalen. The terrain has a steady ascent towards the cabin area, where it levels out. Continue through gently rolling terrain with several ups and downs. After a while, the trail to the top is marked.

The descent to Borgasætra is easy, followed by a moderately steep ascent to Flatafjellet. At the top of Flatafjellet, you can enjoy the view of Bruviknipa. Follow the marked trail south and then southeast. The last section up to Bruviknipa is steep, so it may be wise to take off your skis just before the top. From the top, you can admire the spectacular view over Sørfjorden.

These are our recommendations. Have a good trip!
