There are also several lighted trails that are not listed below: Fløyen lighted trail, Bygdastølen ski and hiking center in Fusa and Voss ski and hiking center. The challenge with the cross-country trails in Bergen and surroundings is that the snow rarely stays for long. The more snow-secure ski trails are Voss ski and hiking center, Sjusete, and Totræna.

Ski trip Frotveit lighted trail

The lighted trail at Frotveit is groomed as long as there are good snow conditions. The length of the loop is about 3 km. There are long flat sections and many fun hills to slide down. The hills are not steep, so we would say that the trail is suitable for everyone.

The long flats are great for kids to practice good skiing technique. The lights are on until 11 PM in the evening. For a longer trip, there are groomed tracks over to the lighted trail at Totland.

Lighted trail for cross-country skiing in Gullbotn, about 45 minutes drive from the city. There are two loops you can walk; 3.5 km and 1.5 km. When there is skiing conditions, there are lights on the trails. There is a bus stop and parking for about 80 cars. You can put on your skis right by the road.

Gullbotn is also a popular starting point for the hike to Gullfjellstoppen.

Ski trip Sjusete lighted trail to Allkleiv

Sjusete ski center in Kvam offers a great skiing experience. In total, there are about 30 km of trails connected to the Sjusete ski center. The lighted trail is 5 km long and the lights are on until 11 PM every evening. There is also a more family-friendly trail of 1.5 km.

For a longer ski trip, the trail to Allkleiv is recommended. This is the trip we have done here - see pictures, GPS track, and video.

Sjusete is also a nice starting point for a summit trip to Torefjell (1050 m above sea level) which is located just over the valley.

Take a trip to Sjusete for a nice skiing experience. Here the snow lasts much longer than in Bergen!

Ski trip Totland light track

Totland lysløype

The light track at Totland is groomed as long as there are good snow conditions. The length of the loop is about 3.3 km. There are many fun slopes to ski down. There is only one steep uphill, otherwise they have a steady incline.

At the start of the ski trail, there is a sledding hill and slopes where it is nice to practice skiing down.

For a longer trip, one can walk in behind Fanahytten towards Grindåsen and continue further on Humlestølsvegen. One can also ski the groomed track over to Frotveit light track.

I would say that Totland light track is more fun than Frotveit light track as there are many more descents.

Ski trip Totræna Winter Park in Samnanger

Totræna Vinterpark

This is a nice ski facility that we recommend everyone to visit. If you are tired of the Totland and Frotveit light tracks, it is only a 1-hour drive from the city. There are different trail lengths. Choose between 1, 3, and 5 km loops, where 3 km is a light track. The lights are on until 11 PM every evening.

There are great trails with many gentle slopes that are fun to ski down. There are also some steep ones in between for those who like speed. The terrain is hilly, so there is a lot of ups and downs. The 5 km loop, which is an extension of the 3 km loop, offers many fun descents.

The trails are suitable for most, although the steepest downhill slopes can be too steep for some, but then it is just to take off the skis and walk down.

The trail is also perfect for skating, although the many uphill sections can be tough on the arm muscles.

It is Samnanger IL Cross-Country Skiing that operates and prepares the facility.
