Less known hiking suggestions in Gullfjellet

Gullfjellstoppen is the highest mountain in Bergen municipality and the highest point on the Gullfjell massif.
Viewed from above, it would be natural to say that the peaks Skåldalsfjellet, Austefjellet, Slettegga, and Livarden also belong to this mountain massif. When you talk to locals, they will probably say that the Gullfjell massif consists only of Gullfjellstoppen, Søre Gullfjellstoppen (the South Pole), and Kofta. This article will only cover the massif with these 3 peaks.
1. Hausdalen up 'Bergen's longest slope' to the South Pole - Demanding

The journey up to the South Pole from Hausdalen is steep and challenging. From the parking area in Hausdalen, you walk along the gravel road that runs alongside Hausdalselva. It is an idyllic valley, and many camp along the river on nice days. As you continue along the road, you can see the South Pole peeking out, giving you a perspective on this long slope. You just need to keep going further into Brekkedalen. You see the high-voltage masts on the left side, and where the high-voltage masts are lowest, a path goes to the left. It is marked with a small cairn. Now you just have to follow the pathinward. First, it goes through the forest and gradually begins to steeply ascend the mountain ridge. You then cross the tree line, and it goes back and forth up the mountain ridge. The slope may seem endlessly long, so it's wise to take some drink breaks. Just before the top, it flattens out, and suddenly you spot the cairn. Return the same way or down via Toroåsen.
2. Gullfjellstriangelet - The ultimate mountain hike in the Gullfjell massif - Extra demanding

This is the actual cream tour in the Gullfjell massif. From Hausdalen, up Bergen's longest slope to Sydpolen 962, then east towards Kofta 921. When you leave Sydpolen, you go off-trail north over the Gullfjell massif. Walk the ridge on the right side of Gullfjelltjørnane. When the ridge starts to go down, you can see Kofta on the right side. To get there, go further north and down into the valley on the right side. Cross the valley on the north side of the water and start the ascent to Kofta. There is no trail, so you must follow the direction. Then walk the same way back andinto the cairn line that leads you to Gullfjellstoppen 987. The return is made by following the cairn line down the corkscrew. Then you walk on a path south over Toroåsen down to Hausdalen.
3. Gullfjellstoppen from Hausdalen via Purkedalsgjelet - Extra demanding

This is for those who like a challenge, as there are easier ways to Gullfjellstoppen than the one through Purkedalsgjelet. There is probably a reason why no path is marked on the map. This route also starts in Hausdalen. From the parking lot, you go all the way into Brekkedalen. When you reach the intersection, you go left past Brekkehytta and into Stora Brekkevatnet. Go to the end of the water, and on the left side, you can see Purkedalsgjelet. It is squeezed between Kofta and Søre Gullfjelltoppen. It is one long stone pile. Into the gorgeyou will find it easiest if you follow the riverbed inward. Purkedalsgjelet ends in a narrow pass 700 meters above sea level. Then it flattens out, and you enter a valley where there is a lake. Go past the lake and up the valley on the left side. Then you will join the cairn line that leads you to Gullfjellstoppen.
4. Gullfjellet up via Hausdalsgullbotn - Demanding

Another trip that starts from Hausdalen. Walk along the road past the idyllic campsite along Hausdalselva. A few hundred meters further, you come to an intersection. Take the forest road to the left. Follow the forest road until it turns into a path. This path is not much used, but in some places, it is marked with small stone piles. It goes uphill on the left side of the river. Then you must cross the left arm of the river to follow the ridge up to Hausdalsgullbotn. From here, you can walk on a poor path (partially off-path) up to the main path that goes over Toråsen toTorofjell. From Toro, you can continue to Korketrekkeren which leads to Gullfjellstoppen.
