DNT Cabins in Bergsdalen

There are many beautiful DNT cabins in Bergsdalen. You do not need to be a member of DNT (Bergen Turlag) to book accommodation, but as a member you get a significant discount.

It is approx. 1.5 hours drive from Bergen to Bergsdalen. The valley itself is 20 km long and runs from Dale towards Voss. The valley is the gateway to an attractive mountain area that extends south towards Kvamskogen. The drive from Dale is an experience in itself. In case of slippery roads or bad weather, it is recommended to drive to Bulken and then up via Hamlagrø.
Alexander Grieg
This is an unattended cabin without provisions. It is located only 200 meters from the road in Bergsdalen. The cabin was built in 1970, but was completely renovated in 2020. It is a large cabin with all the facilities you need. It is not rented out with single beds as is usual with DNT cabins - the tenant has the entire cabin to himself. Therefore, it is well suited for school classes, companies or larger groups.
Broad view

This beautiful cabin was renovated in 2019 with two new buildings. It is located just above Fitjadalen in Kvam. Access is either from Fitjadalen or Hamlagrø in Bergsdalen. From Fitjadalen, the recommended route is via Skrott (1320 m).
The cabin has 31 beds and is serviced with a provision store. There is a cabin host in July and August and weekends in September. Not recommended in winter (December-February) due to avalanche danger.
Kiellandbu

This cabin (913 m above sea level) was opened as a tourist cabin in 2008. It is unattended without provisions and has only 5 beds. The cabin has impressive views down into Botnen over Fyksesundet in Kvam.
In summer it is easily reached through the valley from Hodnaberg power station. In winter the hike is via Sveindalsnuten from the same starting point.
Turnaround

This large cabin (820 m above sea level) was built in 1996 and has 30 beds. It is self-catering with a storeroom and is well suited for families with children.
The easiest access is from Bergsdalen at Hamlagrøosen (2-3 hours walk). The trail is well marked. Popular ski touring destination in winter.
High hut
One of Bergen Turlag's oldest cabins, built in 1937 but upgraded to a good standard. Has 25 beds and provisions.
The fastest route (approx. 2 hours) runs from Lid in Bergensdalen - on foot in summer, on skis in winter.
Golden Horgabu

Built in 2014 as a self-catering cabin with 34 beds and provisions. Best access from Småbrekke in Bergsdalen (approx. 3 hour walk). Same route summer and winter.
Torfinnsheim

Located near Hodnaberg power station (same start as Kiellandbu). Has 28 beds and is unattended without provisions.
The summer route goes straight up the slope (approx. 2 km), the winter route in a curve (approx. 3 km).
