Description
This is the second stage of a great three-day ski trip through Stølsheimen, with Ortnevik by the Sognefjord as the final destination.
From Vardadalsbu you first follow the same route as the summer trail towards Norddalshytta. The route goes north through Vardadalen, in steadily rising terrain up to the highest point on the stage. From there the trip continues through the valley before driving down towards Vestrebotn and Trongedalen.
This is a stage with magnificent and dramatic mountain scenery, where the terrain consists of steep valleys, the descent crisscrossing the hilly landscape. From Trongedalen the tour continues up the valley towards Norddalshytta, which is located at 1004 m above sea level.
Mountain skis with steel edges are recommended on this trip.
NOTE: This is an unmarked route. You will cross several frozen bodies of water and in some places move through terrain that may be prone to avalanches. The trip therefore requires that you have experience traveling in the winter mountains, and that you can make good judgments both in avalanche terrain and when crossing frozen bodies of water. Remember to take a map and GPS.
