Description
Long and demanding mountain hike up 'Norway's longest uphill' to Skålatårnet (1843m).
Cross the road and follow the gravel road to the gate. Here you can choose to walk the path or the forest road. We chose the forest road which was a little longer. The path and the forest road meet further up and continue on the path. It is well signposted and easy to find. It is a steep climb all the way up to the waterfall. Here you cross a bridge and continue on the prepared path that goes crisscrossing up the mountainside. When you reach the first cairn at approx. 1000 m. you enter a shadow valley where there may be snow. Walk on the left side of Skålavatnet and onto Sherpa stairs.
Now the path turns steeply north and you come to a section where there are few stairs, so you have to split in some places. Then it flattens out and the last part is on a paved stone path.
At the top there are nice views in all directions. The old Skålatårnet and the new DNT cabin are impressive.
Stryneskåla itself (1848 m) lies to the north-east. You can see the cairn from Skålatårnet. It's not far to walk, but I think most people settle for Skålatårnet.
Dette er en tøff tur så jeg anbefaler at du er fjellvant, bruker fjellsko som går over ankel og ta med varme klær og proviant.
Have a good trip!
