Hiking tips In Fusa: 3 autumn favorites for the weekend!

Fusa is a quiet, rural part of Bjørnafjorden municipality. Here you get a nice mix of fjord, forest, and round mountain peaks – and when the autumn air is clear, you are rewarded with impressive views.
In this guide, you get a concrete weekend plan that maximizes your hiking experience: Take an afternoon trip to Røafjellet on Friday, set aside Saturday for Ottanosa and Kjerringafjell as the main hike of the weekend, and round off Sunday with Kråkenos in Hålandsdalen. From Bergen, you usually drive around 1.5 hours.
The hikes are best suited from spring to autumn when the trails are snow-free and more accessible. All hikes are graded as moderate and demanding, so it is an advantage to be somewhat used to hiking.

Nice afternoon hike to the top with views over Sævareidfjorden
Røafjellet (589 m) is a nice half-day hike from Rød/Rødo in Fusa. Start at the sign 'Røafjellet' and follow the asphalt up, through the farmyard and along the tractor road before the trail takes you into forest and marsh – well marked with red paint. Steady ascent with some steep sections, and the last part goes through open mountain landscape. At the top: cairn, mailbox, and 360° view towards Sævareidfjorden.
Distance: approx. 9 km round trip, time: approx. 3-4 hours, Grade: Moderate

Day 2: Mountain hike over Ottanosa (976 m) and Kjerringafjell (938 m)

One of the most popular mountain hikes in Fusa
This is one of the most popular round trips in Fusa. The hike starts at the parking lot by the Heihiller ski resort (approx. 350 m), where you can park for a fee, and the route is clearly marked from the start. You first follow a forest road down to the ski resort and then a marked trail that goes steeply up to Ottanosa, before the round trip continues in a long semicircle to Kjerringafjell. Then it goes steeply down again to the ski resort. The hike is well marked with T-signs all the way, and if you want a complete three-mountain hike, you can finish with a detour to Heihillerhornet.
Distance: approx. 10 km, time: approx. 6 hours, Grade: Challenging

Day 3: Kråkenos from Hålandsdalen – nice ending before returning home

Photo: On tour Norway
Experience magnificent views over Hardangerfjord
The Kråkenos starts from Nedre Bolstad in Øvre Hålandsdalen. From the parking lot, you follow the asphalt for about 400 meters before turning right by the farmstead (signposted and allowed to walk). Further, you walk along a forest road and path by the river to a junction after about 1 km: Here you can choose the steep variant via Stegen/Stigene, or go around (about 1 km longer). If you choose the paths, the trail climbs steeply up the mountainside via two ladders – first a short one, then a long one – before you reach Røydalen and follow the T-marked path further to the top and the cairn, with great fjord views along the way.Return the same way.
Distance: approx. 15 km round trip, time: approx. 6 hours, Grade: Challenging
