The Dolomites in Northern Italy are where sun, sharp mountains, and long ski days meet in one and the same week. You fly to Munich and continue by bus through Innsbruck and Brixen before landing in the quiet alpine village of Kiens.

This is a classic 'everything is arranged' ski trip: you choose alpine or cross-country skiing, and have a fixed starting point with dinner and breakfast included. The ski bus stops right outside, so you avoid logistics and can use your energy on the slopes.

Tour operator: Rolfs Reiser

Day-by-day travel program

Day 1: Arrival in Kiens and first evening in the Dolomites

The journey starts with a flight to Munich, before the group gathers and boards the bus that continues towards Austria and Italy.

On the way into the Dolomites, you pass classic alpine towns and valleys before Kiens becomes the base for the week. The evening is best spent preparing equipment, checking the weather, and planning the first ski day.

The next six days will be world-class skiing. The Dolomites are one of Europe's largest ski areas, and with a lift pass (optional) you have access to around 1,200 kilometers of slopes in Dolomiti Superski. Start your days with a good breakfast, and hop on the ski bus that stops right outside the base in Kiens. The trip goes to Reischach (Riscone), where the lift takes you up to the Kronplatz system - a popular area with well-prepared slopes for both beginners and experienced skiers.

The ski bus runs several times in the morning and back again in the afternoon, and if you want to add variation you can book excursions through the tourist office in Kiens (or ask the tour leader for tips).

Day 2–7: Cross-country skiing in the Dolomites

For those who prefer cross-country skiing and do not want to stand in the alpine slopes, the Dolomites offer an impressive network of cross-country trails. The area around Kronplatz has many beautiful routes that are easy to reach from the hotel by local ski bus. For an extra nice day, you can take a trip to Toblach and ski south towards Cortina, west towards Pragsertal, or east towards Sextental. A visit to the biathlon facility in Antholz is also recommended – here you often find some of the best-prepared surfaces in the region. Welsberg is another lovely area for cross-country skiing, withcalm surroundings and varied trails.

Day 8: Return journey via Munich

Breakfast, check-out, and the last look at the mountains before traveling home.

After breakfast, you check out and head towards Munich airport.

Tips for the trip

  • Lift tickets in good time: If you want Dolomiti Superski (6 days, including valleys like Val di Fassa and Val Gardena), book as an extra at least 25 days before departure – or buy on site.
  • Check booking deadlines: After the deadline, you cannot pre-book ski transport/lift tickets through the organizer, so plan accordingly.
  • Cross-country skiing + transport: The ski bus to Kronplatz is free. If you are going to other cross-country ski areas, expect that any trail fees are paid on site.
  • Equipment: Rent skis/boots (and possibly a helmet) on site, or pre-book online with any rental company to save time upon arrival (not included in the price).
  • Insurance and helmet (Italy): Ensure liability insurance for skiing (often included in travel/home insurance). From November 1, 2025, CE-approved helmets are mandatory for everyone on the slopes – without a helmet, you may receive a fine and your ski pass can be confiscated.
