Melshovden (183 m) in Austfjorden

This is a short hike that you can do all year round. Park in the large parking lot along the road.

Then cross the road where the trail starts – there is a sign marked 'Melshovden'. Follow the trail in slightly hilly terrain through the forest. After a while the landscape opens up, and the trail continues on solid rock with a steady climb up to the cairn.

At the top you get a view over the Austfjord, with Mongstad at the far end. You look south towards Stallbotnen on the left and the Hindenesfjord on the right.

The return trip goes the same way.
