Brævasshytta is beautifully situated under Bøyabreen, part of Jostedalsbreen – Europe's largest glacier.
Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a piece of cake while taking in the fantastic view, surrounded by powerful nature with the glacier majestically in sight. The menu also includes sausage meat, homemade burgers made from local meat, and a selection of locally produced juices and beverages.
The cabin is built into the moraine ridge close to the National Park, and has a long history as a place to eat for both locals and visitors. Even before the current building was built in 1960, the area was used as a gathering place for visitors who came to experience the glacier. After many decades of operation, Brævasshytta is now run by Fjærland Fjordstove Hotel.
Lonely Planet writes: “Stop by Brævasshytta, built into the moraine of Bøyabreen’s last major advance – even if it’s just for a cup of coffee. With the glacier right in front of you, it’s like dining in an IMAX cinema, only for real.”
